Sigur Rós
WE SAY
Sigur Rós' third full release in the UK, Takk, has come out to resoundingly positive reviews. This is their first album through EMI. Their previous two albums, released through FatCat in the UK, sold more than 600,000 copies around the world without a publicity machine behind them. More accessible than their previous outing, "( )", Sigur Rós have made the leap to mainstream without selling out. They sing in their native Icelandic here, instead of in the invented babble they called Hopelandic on their previous work. Evoking a sonic landscape that is incomparable, they turn the idea of the concept album on its head. This is truly beautiful, unmissable music. Sigur Rós play London's Carling Academy Brixton, on Wednesday, November 9.
