If Only
Show N Prove feat. Shakka
WE SAY
It seems Scottish producer and remixer Show N Prove is very much in demand right now. Born Ellis Taylor in Edinburgh, he spent his teens absorbing the twin influences of hip-hop and punk, then started DJing in the city's clubs aged just 14. A decade ago, he moved to London and built up one of the best contacts books in the business. He's already had a ton of major syncs recently including Fifa 14, The Only Way Is Essex & The Fast & Furious 6 and G-Shock have filmed a documentary about his journey to date. He's been working with many of the UK's biggest urban pop acts like Wiley, Rizzle Kicks, Wretch 32, Jessie J and Professor Green, but now jumps firmly into the spotlight as an artist in his own right. There'll be an album from him in September, preceded by live dates at the Great Escape, Reading & Leeds. We loved his 2013 underground hit, the Jamaican-tinged tune Zimma Frame featuring Takura, so now expect things to go mainstream with this single. Built around a classic 70's breakbeat, with the smooth and soulful vocal from Shakka over the top of it, this great track is on the BBC Radio 1Xtra playlist (A List), Kiss Fresh and Capital Xtra too, plus the video is already in the UK's Top 50 TV Airplay chart. Putting our neck on the line here, it's potentially one of the biggest tunes of early summer.
