We’ve been following the progression of Zimbabwean/Irish soul singer-songwriter Siobhan McClean, aka shiv since we featured her as one of our Ones To Watch 2021. Since then, she has independently released her EP, The Love Interlude - a dazzling collection of warm, soul songs doused with elements of jazz, hip hop and R&B. Along the way, the DJ-turned artist has amassed over 20m global streams and captured the attention of Irish and UK radio stations such as RTE Radio 1, 2FM and the BBC, along with tastemakers Hotpress, the Line of Best Fit and Colors. Now signed to Warner Music Ireland, shiv dropped this spellbinding number last week that sees her team up with production duo Superparka. It has a late ’90s and early ’00s beat about it that enticingly draws you as the warped and intoxicating vocals describe her frustration at life and the world. Late Now was featured on editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer upon release. Expect spins on Irish radio shortly, and we reckon this gem also deserves spins on 6 Music, 1Xtra and Radio 1 specialist shows too. Quite simply, amazing.
