Starting our second week of Ones To Watch 2021 is the talented Zimbabwe-Irish singer-songwriter Siobhan McClean, aka shiv. We were first enamoured by her unique blend of R&B and lo-fi Hip Hop, with elements of soul and neo-soul last year when she dropped the gorgeous Golden. Since then, the DJ-turn artist has been hard at work on her debut EP Me 2 Me, which she has written, recorded and produced herself over the past year. Having captured the attention of Irish and UK radio stations such as RTE Radio 1, 2FM and the BBC, along with tastemakers Hotpress, the Line of Best Fit and Colors with her singles, Hold Me, Letting You Know and You And I from the EP, she released the EP in full last week. This stunningly beautiful and jazz-flecked number is the lead track, which along with previous releases has seen massive support at streaming with over 40 editorial playlist additions from the likes of Spotify (NMF, RADAR:First Listen), Deezer (Brand New UK, Fresh R&B), Amazon Music (Breakthrough, Chill Generation) and YouTube Music (Soothing Soul, Femme Fresh). Her soulful vocal and mix of styles have seen the young artist build a loyal following in Ireland and beyond, and with tastemakers now coming on board it all looks set for shiv to have a massive 2021. Slick and sophisticated laid-back modern soul for the masses.
