London-based Swedish artist, songwriter and producer Shaqdi is back with this gorgeous slice of meaningful R&B from her forthcoming second EP. As regular readers will know, we have been fans of the future soul singer since her debut Colorless back in March 2018. Since then, she has released her first EP, amassed over 3m combined streams, and received tastemaker praise from the likes of the Line of Best Fit, Complex, Dummy and Pigeon & Planes. Boasting a smooth sax hook, sweet vocals and a delicious groove, this ode to her mother featured on editorial playlists at Apple Music (New Music Daily – Germany, Austria and Switzerland), Spotify (Butter) and Deezer (Fresh R&B, Radar Weekly), while longtime fan Jamz Supernova at Radio 1Xtra gave the track its first airplay spin last week. Further praise has come from Clash magazine and Gal-dem for the Tera Kòrá produced track. With a recent visit to Scotland as part of a brand partnership with whisky brand Copper Dog behind her, Shaqdi is now preparing for a big Sofar Sounds show next month and the release of her next single on East of Eden. Fresh, meaningful and seriously smooth future soul from a rising star.
