All The Queen’s Horses
Shakespears Sister
WE SAY
If you haven’t been aware or been away for the past week or so, then you might not know that Shakespears Sister have reunited and that this glorious track is the duo’s first new music together in 26 years. Produced by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire), All The Queen’s Horses is the first of two new tracks (the other being C U Next Tuesday) that feature on their forthcoming singles collection, Singles Party, on the reformed London Records label. Having performed their classic No.1 hit Stay on Graham Norton’s BBC show last Friday to mark the reunion, they released this yesterday to coincide with its first radio play on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 show and the premiere of the stunning Sophie Muller directed accompanying video on BBC Breakfast TV and Metro online. Sounding like they have never been away, it’s an absolute gem with lush string arrangements and softly strummed guitar melodies accompanying their rich vocal harmonies in this seemingly John Barry-esque number. Expect to see this in streaming new release programming on Friday and with more promo ramping up over the next couple of weeks to go alongside interviews with Jo Whiley, Chris Evans and NME among others, we wouldn’t bet against this garnering further plays and/or playlist positions on radio either. Later this year you can catch them on their Shakespears Sister Ride Again tour in October and November, which will include a show at the London Palladium on 5 November. A marvellous return.
