Shaheen's rise to prominence came through a Britain's Got Talent appearance in 2009. He then turned heads globally with his performance at Michael Jackson’s funeral (had been due to support Jackson at his live dates). Both performances now have over 20m views on YouTube and have built up a healthy fanbase as he releases his first music on Island. The double A-side single of Last Train Home and Hip Teens (Don’t Wear Blue Jeans) comes from album When I Come Of Age, both due out next month. He has been working with a team which includes Jerry Wonda (The Fugees) Igloo (Ludacris) & TC in the US, as well as Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, Duffy) and Martin Terefe (James Morrison, KT Tunstall) in the UK. With early plays on Smooth and Radio 2, an ILR tour awaits at the end of this month. Other activity includes a YouTube competition involving dance groups, which defintely suits the taste of the audience which first got a glimpse of this young star in the making
