Why
Sasha Keable
WE SAY
Continuing our Ones To Watch 2025 is the brilliant south London-born Colombian/British singer-songwriter Sasha Keable. With roots in R&B and soul, Sasha was raised on a musical diet including Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Mary J Blige, and her Colombian roots of Cumbria & Vallentos. In 2021, she released her sublime ‘Intermission’ EP, which included the excellent track ‘Killing Me’ featuring Jorja Smith, and has since amassed over 10m streams. At the start of 2024, she returned with ‘Hold Up’, her first new music in three years, which quickly racked up co-signs from Little Simz, Enny, Mahalia, Jorja Smith, and Wu-Tang Clan, to name but a few. Following this, she dropped ‘Auction’, ‘Take Your Time’ featuring 6lack, and this tender and heartfelt slice of piano-led soul, produced by Charlie Pitts. Premiered by ColorsXStudios earlier this week (with IG teaser clocking 1m views), ‘Why’ is another gorgeous example of Sasha’s rich, commanding tones and forthright and emotional songwriting style. Her blend of R&B, pop and soulful jazz has seen her pick up editorial support at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer, along with tastemaker support from Gaffer, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, Rinse FM, Radio 1, Radio 2 and 1Xtra, among others. Plus, Beyonce named her as one of her favourite artists of 2024 in an interview with GQ. Having broken 100k followers on Instagram and sold out her UK & European tour this year, alongside a series of strong single releases, Sasha is set to have a bigger 2025, starting with shows at the Deaf Institute in Manchester (26 February) and London’s Koko (27 February - sold out). One to watch.
