Next up on our Ones To Watch 2022 is the hugely talented singer-songwriter Sam Tompkins. He first started out busking on the streets of his hometown of Brighton, and since then, the 22 year old has built a fanatical following for his brand of honest and emotive songwriting across social platforms and DSPs. His soaring R&B highs and brutal pop lows have been praised by Bastille, Elton John, Bebe Rexha, Jason Derulo and MNEK, as well as Justin Bieber, who is a huge fan. The two first connected on an Instagram livestream and in November Sam flew to LA to write and record in the studio with Justin. Along the way, Sam has amassed over 60m combined global streams (20m in UK) for his singles (including this stunning track), editorial support at DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer) and numerous spins at Radio 1. Plus, tastemaker support has come from MTV, Clash, Notion, tmrw, The BRITs Artist Spotlight and Sound of Brit, to name just a few. Having completed a sold-out UK tour this year, Sam will head out on a ten date headline UK/EU tour next year that includes a show at 02 Forum Kentish Town. Much like RotD featured artists Tom Walker and Lewis Capaldi, Sam has that incredible knack for sharing heartfelt emotions and observational lyricism that are instantly memorable and relatable, making him one of our Ones To Watch 2022.
