With Eurosonic Noorderslag about to return this month in Groningen in the Netherlands, 20-year-old Austrian producer salute is an artist that we highly recommend you seek out. Three years ago, when Austria was the focus country at the festival, he was named as one of the brightest talents to emerge. Now he’s based in Brighton, and his sound combines his original Viennese electronic and jazz influences with more UK street sounds, alongside US hip-hop and trap. It’s a heady brew that you’ll hear shine through on this unique soulful track, taken from last summer’s mini-album My Heart. It features D.R.A.M., one of the biggest new artists right now, whose own track Broccoli is close to hitting 246m global streams on Spotify. Together they performed this for Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show at Maida Vale, and salute has just completed UK dates with Tourist ahead of live European festival dates and a new single, due in the spring. Catch his Eurosonic show at Simplon next Thursday evening (January 12). On the evidence of this fabulous tune, it promises to be one hell of a party.
