Lucy
Salt Ashes
WE SAY
London-based electronic and pop artist Salt Ashes follows up her former RotD-featured and emotionally charged Love, Love with another addictive electro-pop gem. This time her new single Lucy carries a hard-hitting message that speaks out against violence towards women. Filled with lush, heavy synths, delicious pop hooks, and an infectious groove, Lucy is a dance-ready anthem despite, lyrically, tackling themes of sexual assault. The video, directed by Salt Ashes and inspired by Quentin Tarantino and Wes Anderson, recently premiered on Wonderland and has since picked up tastemaker support from numerous online sites. Taken from her forthcoming second album, Killing My Mind out this Friday (5 November), the track once again shows her knack for crafting distinct and darkly woven electro-fused earworms. Performing tonight (1 November) at The Grace in Islington, London, Salt Ashes will be celebrating the upcoming album release, and we recommend you catch her live show.
