Superficial
Saibh Skelly
WE SAY
Superficial is the latest infectious pop offering from rising 19 year old Dubliner Saibh (pronounced "Sive") Skelly. Having started out as a 15 year old busker in Dublin city centre, the teenager started to upload her sessions to YouTube in 2019 and quickly found a following online. During the pandemic, her covers of modern pop songs saw her popularity rapidly increase. Last year, she released her Undercover Heartbreak EP – a collection of covers that helped her through lockdown and saw her chart in the Top 10 of the official Irish album charts. This confident pop nugget, stuffed full of pop hooks and warm synths, is her third single from her forthcoming second EP, SAIBH X FIVE, in April. Watch the video here. Co-written and produced by Toby Scott (Felix Jaehn, Dimitri Vegas, Galantis) and Olivia Sebastianelli (Ella Henderson, Sophie & The Giants, Cassyette), the song premiered on Radio 1's Future Pop show last night and is primed for spins on Irish radio following previous single, So What, success with over 1,000 plays on Irish stations. In Ireland, Saibh has been busy with a series of secondary school concerts and Q&A sessions ahead of the release and will perform all ages headline show at Academy 2 in Dublin on 20 May, a month after her EP launch at Upstairs at Whelans on 22 April. With over 6m views on her YouTube and 3.5m views on TikTok, Saibh Kelly is fast becoming a new light on the Irish pop scene and one that you need to keep an eye on. One to watch.
