Telling a story of vulnerability and betrayal, ‘Wickerman’ is the haunting new single from Newcastle singer-songwriter Ruth Lyon. Known for her transportive folk songwriting and distinctive voice, Ruth has already caught the attention of the Independent, Consequence, The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland Magazine, Narc and BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, among others. Produced by John Parish (Aldous Harding, PJ Harvey), ‘Wickerman’ sees Ruth release her first new music since her 2022 EP ‘Direct Debit To Vogue’. It’s a gorgeous affair with a hypnotic piano and bass groove underlying a delicate and intimate blend of dreamy clarinet, melancholic strings and shimmering percussion. Perfect for those mellow, coffee house and singer-songwriter playlists at DSPs, but we can also hear this being spun on evening shows on Radio 1, daytime 6 Music shows and folk shows on Radio 2. A recent recipient of the PPL Momentum award and ambassador for Attitude Is Everything, Ruth will be heading out on a UK tour next month, having performed previously at SXSW, The Great Escape, Latitude and Secret Garden Party.
