Heart And Soul

Rupert Stroud

Xidus Music

WE SAY

The first thing that hits you when hearing this great track from Rupert Stroud is that chugging bassline riff that throbs away as it ebbs and flows across the course of the song. Yorkshire lad Rupert is a singer-songwriter who’s shared live stages with James Blunt (who chose him as a support act for a 2014 gig after he’d heard Dermot O’Leary on Radio 2 play his single Morning Light), and Texas (whose singer Sharleen Spiteri heard his song The Truth championed after a live session from him on BBC Radio Scotland’s Janice Forsyth show). This latest offering is the title track to his forthcoming six-song EP, recorded in his newly created DIY studio in Leeds and released on his own label. You’ll hear influences like Richard Ashcroft, Elbow and Tom Petty in his sound, vocals and writing, as he draws from the past to create something that’s also hugely contemporary. With summer dates at several UK festivals beginning in Manchester’s Tatton Park on July 15, this compelling British musician is clearly driven, and will deservedly raise his profile further and wider with this solid singalong guitar anthem.
