Dangerous
Rumer
WE SAY
It's great to welcome Rumer back with what sounds initially like a simple upbeat disco track. However, listen carefully and there's a sad and bittersweet tinge to the lyrics as she sings candidly of the prospect of feeling hurt in a relationship but ultimately overcoming those fears. Ken Bruce at BBC Radio 2 gave the song its world premiere yesterday as well announcing details of her forthcoming album Into Colour, two years on from her excellent Boys Don't Cry covers collection which went Top 3 on the UK album chart. Some live tour dates are promised soon to promote this, her first new album of original songs since her debut Seasons Of My Soul in 2010, which saw her receive both BRIT and Mojo Award nominations. We're reminded fondly of Swing Out Sister when listening to this. This is immaculately produced grown-up sophisticated pop, set to appeal to mature music-loving ears who know quality right from the very first listen and get the throwback references including the soulful and funky Philly grooves of the 70's.
