WE SAY
For those of you keeping your eyes and ears on the British jazz scene this year would have heard the beautiful album, ‘Featherweight’, by Rosie Frater-Taylor. But for those of you who may be new to her music, Rosie is a virtuoso guitarist and vocalist who weaves rock, alt-pop, neo-soul, new-school jazz and folk into her music. In February, her third album, ‘Featherweight’, drew praise from Mojo – “astonishingly mature album for one so young” – and Gilles Peterson – “an artist I’ve fallen in love with”. On 21 November, Rosie will release a deluxe version of the album and include this original new single, released today. ‘In A Dream’ is a hypnotic, story-telling, folk-pop ballad. Inspired by traditional folk music but with her distinctive jazz twist, this serene and gorgeous ode is a lush addition to ‘Featherweight’ and deserves your attention, as well as additions to acoustically driven and folk-tinged editorial playlists at DSPs and plays at Radio 2, 6 Music and more. She will play the London Jazz Festival on the 19 November at the World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens. All in all, just wonderful. Watch the video here.
