In 2022, we were very impressed with the country-pop offerings of Chelmsford-based singer-songwriter Roisin O’Hagan. Her flair for creating infectious, sing-a-long tracks, written in Nashville and featuring on her ‘Dreamstate’ EP, saw her catch the attention of tastemakers at Radio 2 (Bob Harris) Countryline, Absolute Country, BBC Introducing, BBC Essex and Spotify (Very Nearly Nashville). Now back with ‘Midnight Indigo’ this week, the 24 year old marks a new era and sees her draw on rockier elements in this toxic tale of two people. Fuelled by driving guitars, upbeat percussion and soaring melodies, the track shows off her knack for storytelling and would sound great on radio and new pop playlists at DSPs. Having recorded a bunch of new songs over the past year, including at London’s Abbey Road, Roisin is planning to release new material every six weeks as she embarks on her next musical chapter. One to watch.
