Back in the early 2000’s, Riva Taylor was EMI's youngest-ever signing Becky Taylor. After two albums, she went travelling in her late teens, headed to Durham University, then ended up working at a legal firm, yearning to get back into music again. We’re glad she did, as this first song from her forthcoming album is a total delight. Co-written by Riva with Jamie Hartman (who's fresh from his global success with the mighty Human for Rag’n’Bone Man), she’s been working on the album with Shelly Poole, and Starsalior’s James Walsh. Production comes from Julian Hinton (MD for Trevor Horn) and Ed Sheeran’s engineer Graham Archer, and has been A&R’d by Autonomy, whose recent successes include new Radio 2 favourites Wildwood Kin. Pete Tong has played the Golden Boy mix of this on Radio 1, and Tiesto has also featured it in his playlist. Catch her live at the Walled Garden Festival in East Sussex on July 15. Building beautifully from its soulful, stripped-back base into an inspiring gospel-tinged radio anthem, this is quality grown-up pop that's sure to appeal far and wide.
