Raise Your Love
Rhodes
WE SAY
Incredibly, 24 year-old singer-songwriter Rhodes only started writing and playing his own material this year which, quite apart from the accomplishment of his songwriting, makes his achievements to date all the more remarkable. His first track Always, self-recorded in his Hitchin bedroom and posted in the spring, was playlisted at Amazing Radio, where he is tipped for success in 2014, and picked up specialist plays at Radio 1. Since then he has opened for Rufus Wainwright and Laura Marling, toured with Nick Mulvey, played Festival No. 6, sold out his first headline show at The Waiting Rooms and announced a second at Servant Jazz Quarters, a sold-out Communion show tomorrow night. With shades of David McAlmont vocally, gorgeous new single Raise Your Love is the lead track from a four-track EP recorded with James Kenosha and Charlie Fink (Noah & The Whale), earning him a BBC Introducing spot at Radio 1 the week before last. His acoustic session for Burberry is well worth a look, with more to come from the Mahogany Blog and SoFar Sounds.
London gig: Servant Jazz Quarters, December 3 (sold out)
