WE SAY
We previously featured London-based artist RENÉ back in December last year with her brooding and soulful single Voices. She is now back with the minimal and sublime Pretender, having released the single I.N.T.O. in May, which was premiered in American fashion magazine V. Produced by NOSAApollo, the track weaves dark, intense synths alongside a stirring bassline which allows the powerful and sultry vocals of RENÉ to shine. As with her previous releases, this is an expressive and mesmerising listen that can easily sit on any chilled and moody R&B playlist. RENÉ has garnered tastemaker support from Solange Knowles’ influential blog Saint Heron, Hunger magazine, Earmilk, and Disco Naïevté, as well as radio plays on 1Xtra, Reprezent and Amazing Radio. Her debut EP will be released next year where we fully expect to hear more sensual and brooding contemporary R&B sounds.
