Red Sky July
WE SAY
This warming folk-tinged song is the glorious debut from alternative superband Red Sky July. Formed of Shelly Poole (Alisha’s Attic), Ally McErlaine (Texas) and Charity Hair (The Alice Band) the band are due to release their eponymous debut album October 17. After selling over a million records as one half of Alisha's Attic, Shelly became a hugely successful songwriter in her own right, collaborating with, among others, Janet Jackson, Massive Attack, and Mark Ronson. Ally joined Texas at just 17, and went on to sell 15 million albums, marrying Shelly in 2001. The band is completed with Charity Hair, one third of The Alice Band, who was also in briefly active The Ailerons with Dave Rowntree (Blur). Early support has come from BBC Scotland and BBC London with Radio 2 to broadcast a Bob Harris live session early November. Press is lining up well with features in The Independent, The Express and Q online. Here's a live acoustic video of Morning Song.
