Change
R
WE SAY
For a band apparently determined to make themselves completely invisible to Google, French-Irish electro-pop duo 'R' are doing a pretty good job of getting heard on the radio. Their quiet, understated debut Change was originally championed by 6 Music's Steve Lamacq on his Roundtable Review show, accurately describing it as a 'terrifically charming piece of music', while guest reviewer Martyn Ware (Heaven 17, Human League) said it 'restored his faith in the future of songwriting in Britain' - not bad from the man who co-wrote Temptation. Produced by Konstantine Pope, Change has just ended its fourth week on the 6 Music playlist, while FM radio is picking up with plays from Huw Stephens and Phil & Alice at Radio 1, Janice Long at Radio 2, with support from Today FM and 2fm in Ireland. R is a collaboration between brothers Pierre and Marc O'Reilly, the former a respected film composer, the latter a talented folk-blues artist whom you can catch solo at The Islington tomorrow (October 18).
