Best Time
Qbanaa
WE SAY
‘Best Time’ is a gorgeously hook-laden and alt-pop song from Cuban Irish artist Qbanaa. Taken from her forthcoming ‘Elisa’ EP, the track and EP moves away from her soul, drum’n’bass and electronic influences and sees her tap into her Cuban roots. Initially recorded in several locations across Cuba with producer Rafino Murphy (aka Uly), the song was finished on their return to their Dublin studio. With its summery feel, despite lyrically being about the turbulent finale of a toxic relationship, ‘Best Time’ blends a delicate acoustic guitar melody with soft, rich percussion and an infectious beat for a seriously addictive and vibey release. Add to that her mellifluous voice, and you have a track ripe for summer/chillout/new pop playlists, as well as spins on specialist shows at Radio 1, 1Xtra, and 6 Music. Early support has come from Spotify UK who added it to their NMF/Fresh Finds UK & Ireland playlists and on Wednesday, ‘Best Time’ received its first spin on Beta Da Silva’s RTE 2FM show, having been named earlier in the year as one of the station’s Rising Artists for 2024. Further support for her music has come from Spotify and numerous Irish tastemakers, including Nialler9, Hotpress and Goldenplec. Qbanaa has recently finished supporting Ruby Waters on her European tour and will play a series of festivals in Ireland this August. One to watch.
