WE SAY
Sarah Botelho is the Canadian singer-songwriter better known as POESY, and this evocative, glistening anthem is her latest single. After being discovered on the first season of Canadian music competition show The Launch, Botelho signed a deal with Big Machine Records and released her debut single Soldier of Love in 2018 and her Glass Box Confessional EP early last year. Fast forward a year, and she is now back self-releasing this intimate and powerfully dramatic number. With her soaring, deep emotive vocals backed by rousing drum patterns, shimmering synths and ethereal atmospherics, Diamonds immediately found favour at streaming services with editorial additions at Spotify (NMF, Ready to Rock), Amazon Music (Fresh Alternative, Brand New Music), Tidal (Rising: Global) and YouTube Music (Pop Fresh, Alternative Uprising). Online tastemakers like Earmilk, A1234, and Cultr have all jumped on board too with this release, following previous praise from Billboard and Nylon. On 4 December she will be dropping her video for this on her YouTube channel, which we are sure will see more online love. Influenced by the likes of Kate Bush, PJ Harvey and Tori Amos, POESY is a young artist delivering captivatingly dramatic alt-pop that deserves to be heard.
