WE SAY
It's just over a year since we last featured the very talented east London-based artist Phoenix Martins with her excellent track Heart Strings. Now comes this wonderfully epic and dreamy song, the first release from her forthcoming Retrospective EP. It was co-produced by the lady herself along with Joe Fields and Nick Carter, who've worked with names like The Neptunes and Mystery Jets. Key tastemakers like Line of Best Fit, Afro-Punk, HungerTV, SupaJam, Wonderland and Okayplayer are all keen supporters of her work to date and justifiably so. This is soulful and dark yet utterly engaging and intriguing. The summer has seen her play shows at Wireless festival and London's Roundhouse Rising whilst she's also performed with the band Beaty Heart, who she sang for on their recent US tour with Jungle. We're impressed with the body of work she's neatly building up and have high hopes for her in 2015, especially with more videos from the EP to come in the next few weeks. As for this gorgeously chilled tune, our best advice is to just absorb and immerse in it.
