Stranger Nights
Patrick Martin
WE SAY
With the Great Escape kicking off fully today, we highly recommend you catch Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Patrick Martin tonight (9 May) at Coalition at 9.30pm. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Patrick was introduced to classic rock staples like the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and the Allman Brothers by his mother. This early grounding inspired him to learn to play the guitar and later, after studying abroad in London for his degree, he decided to pursue music full-time and start to write seriously. Drawing on influences from Queen to Jeff Buckley and Coldplay, he released his debut solo single Cinema Love on B-Unique Records earlier this year, which was quickly championed by KCRW radio, and has now followed it with this wondrously epic and expansive dose of indie pop. It was immediately added to Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist for the UK, US and DE, as well as Apple Music’s Best of the Week playlist in twelve territories, and has since picked up editorial placements on Spotify’s Pop Brandneu and License To Chill playlists. It’s utterly addictive and destined to be massive due to its pounding beat, big chorus and glorious production. This is one artist not to be missed.
