Put Me To Work
PAPA
WE SAY
LA duo PAPA were another act making a big noise at this year’s SXSW, with queues still snaking around the venue as they performed their last show. Debut UK single Put Me To Work is a huge statement of intent by Darren Weiss and Danny Presant, getting them off to a flying start in the UK. After a recent Guardian ‘Band of the Week’, Zane Lowe played Put Me To Work as his ‘Next Hype’ on Radio 1 last week, playing the track twice back to back following a huge audience response. The track has also received support from Phil Taggart and Alice Levine, John Kennedy at XFM, and Gideon Coe and Lauren Laverne at 6 Music. Selling out their US shows in advance, including a hometown show at The Troubadour next month, there are plenty of labels, major and indie, in the running for their signature on both sides of the Atlantic. PAPA’s debut live shows in the UK are likely to be in the summer.
