There is something special, powerful and mesmerising about the debut release from 22-year-old Franco-Egyptian singer-songwriter Palòma. From the addictive Middle Eastern melodies to the soft electronic elements and dramatic flourishes, ‘Sisterhood’ is a gorgeous modern pop offering, blending Western influences with Arabian musical scales and vocal styles. Having moved to London to pursue her music career after studying finance in France, Palòma draws upon her experience from growing up in a diverse music-loving household to create a beautiful track. Promoting feminine solidarity and emphasising the importance of supporting each other rather than competing, the track, with its unique blend of styles, would be perfect for new pop and empowerment playlists at DSPs, alongside spins on Radio 1’s Future Pop show and BBC 1Xtra. ‘Sisterhood’ is a captivating and innovative debut.
