Pumpin Blood
NONONO
Warner Bros Records/One More Tune
WE SAY
There's a giddying sense of déjà vu about NONONO's Pumpin Blood, and not just because of its passing resemblance to another moment of purse-lipped pop perfection by a trio of Swedes. If you think you haven't heard former Zane Lowe Next Hype and Radio 1 Track of the Day Pumpin Blood, the most likely explanation is that you are mistaken; it has, thanks to syncs with Samsung, Netflix and 4Music, achieved a level of ubiquity that would embarrass the most ambitious Kardashian. Not that NONONO try anything like that hard; they are a band, as no doubt you'll have noticed, who like to say no. Singer Stina Wäppling signed a Swedish publishing deal at the age of 21 and then promptly left the country to study psychology, later teaming up with producers Tobias 'Amsta' Jimson and Michel Rocwell (Beatrice Eli, Icona Pop) almost as a back-up plan. Their Nordic cool is a gift for the press (glowing write-ups in the Guardian and the Sunday Times) while Pumpin Blood - incidentally not their only tune - has daytime radio written all over it. We're excited to hear more from their debut album, due next year.
