Niki and the Dove
WE SAY
Niki & The Dove is a Swedish band led by vocalist and songwriter Malin Dahlstrom. They released a brilliant double-A-side debut single (DJ, Ease My Mind/ Under The Bridges) on Moshi Moshi earlier this year, receiving some great reviews in the process. Dan Cairns called it a release of 'extraordinary, unanswerable brilliance' in The Sunday Times, with more praise from Peter Robinson at Popjustice, who likened DJ, Ease My Mind to 'The Knife at Eurovision'. Radio 1 support came from Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and Rob Da Bank, who broadcast a Maida Vale session. Mother Protect is their current free download single, available from The Line Of Best Fit, The Fader And the Guardian Music Blog. The brooding build to the gloriously seething refrain 'You can’t keep me down / I am furious' sums up their expermental pop appeal. Niki & The Dove play their first London show this week at the Nordic-themed Ja Ja Ja club night, they are unsigned and available for records.
