Second Time Around
Nell Bryden
WE SAY
The bluegrass, jazz and country stylings of Brooklyn-born Nell Bryden has been gaining new fans over here with her recent UK tour dates, which has already seen her support KT Tunstall, The Counting Crows and Kate Walsh. The story of how she funded her album and tour has got plenty of coverage (see Times article) - and her forces' sweetheart-style tour of Iraq and Kuwait is about to gain even more - but happily the music is deserving of attention too. Radio support has come in the form of Janice Long and Bob Harris sessions on R2. TV shows lined up include BBC Breakfast, to tie in with her London showcase later this month, and RTÉ's Late Late Show. It's a feel-good eclectic combination of styles topped by a very strong voice, as his mix from David Kershenbaum (Tracey Chapman/Joe Jackson) shows. The album is due out early next year and interest from labels and publishers is growing. Video. JF London gig: October 28 Industry showcase at Gibson Guitar Showrooms, W1 - RSVP Nathan Graves
