Back To The Start

Monarchy

Warner Music

WE SAY

It’s been a while, just over nine years in fact, since we featured the then unsigned Australian duo Monarchy with their single and future debut album lead track, Black, The Colour Of My Heart. So it’s great to have them back and seems fitting as their new track, Back To The Start, see the London-based duo returning to the sound of their early singles with a slightly French, synth wave feel, doused in a euphoric and infectious wash. Taken from their third album Mid:Night, out on Warner Music, the track features on Spotify’s Indie Radar, having been added to five New Music Friday playlists upon release and follows previous singles, Hula Hoop 8000, Deep Cut and Mid:Night, which have clocked up over 6m combined streams between them. It’s an upbeat affair that cleverly blends its Air and Daft Punk inspired synth soundscape with the pop flair of Scissor Sisters. The duo who are currently seeing massive support across radio in Spain (Los40, Europa FM and Radio 3) start their UK tour tonight with a London show at The Lexington, having previously performed at some of the world’s leading festivals including Coachella, Eurosonic, Lovebox and Reading and Leeds.
