ALL NIGHT LONG
Mishaal Tamer
Arabian Knights Records/EMPIRE
WE SAY
Our first Ones To Watch 2024 of the New Year is rising Saudi Arabian artist Mishaal Tamer. His musical journey began after he broke and severed the nerves in his left arm at nine years old and was advised to take up a guitar as a means of physiotherapy. Through this process, he fell in love with playing simple guitar melodies and songwriting, which led him to enrol at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. In 2020, his brand of pop alt rock with simple, catchy melodies began to create a buzz stateside and globally with the release of his demo EP, ‘Life’s A Ride’. Following this, he released the collabs ‘Closure’ with Birdy & Sarcastic Sounds, ‘Tell Me About You’ with Kima and ‘Can’t Love Myself’ with DJ Hugel. Having previously signed to RCA as the first Saudi Arabian artist to sign a deal with a US label, he recently signed with EMPIRE. Earlier this year, he started to release a string of singles, including this hazy pop gem from his ‘THE DEEP’ EP. The EP is the inaugural release of a five-chapter project that will make up his debut album, ‘HOME IS CHANGING’. With over 200m combined streams, he has been heavily featured across editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer, as well as been praised by Billboard, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar, to name just a few. This year, Mishaal has supported OneRepublic on their European tour, including a sold-out show in London, and collaborated with the band on ‘Mirage’ for the Assassin’s Creed soundtrack. It’s been a busy year for Mishaal, and 2024 will only be busier. With a support slot on OneRepublic’s US tour and his own European headline tour in the summer, plus more music from his ‘HOME IS CHANGING’ project, Mishaal is an artist to watch in 2024.
