Melox Marvels
WE SAY
From the demos we've heard so far, Melox Marvels - the project of London-based Chris Hutchings - is turning out some very fine beat-driven alternative pop. Citing his influences as Prince, Beck, Talking Heads and obscure jazz drummers, tracks like 718 aren't typical pop songs but they are engrossing compositions which showcase Hutchings' engaging writing. Some London shows will crop up in the next couple of the months with a newly-formed band behind him. If the name is familiar, you may have seen it on a number of remixes that have surfaced over the last 12 months, including a great re-imagining of The Hoosiers' Cops and Robbers. Melox Marvels is currently being developed by Steve Morton and Toby Graffety-Smith at Angelic Union and is available for records and publishing. JF
