WE SAY
Max Jury is a a 23-year old singer-songwriter from Des Moines in Iowa with plenty of heavyweight support behind him prior to the release of his self titled debut album (due June 3). This soulful, almost confessional, gospel-tinged song was premiered by Annie Mac at Radio 1 and has had support from Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart at the station too. In the past Radio 2, 6 Music and Radio X have all shown their love with live sessions, and more are on the way for Dermot O’Leary and John Kennedy soon. This latest track was recorded in New York with hip-hop producer Inflo and features an impressive array of musicians who've worked with Alicia Keys and D’Angelo amongst others. Having played support previously to acts including Lana Del Rey and Rufus Wainwright, watch out for a forthcoming full UK headline tour, preceded by a London gig at the legendary 100 Club on May 26. Steeped in those rich heritage sounds of the US such as blues, soul, gospel and country, it’s that melting-pot of gorgeous influences that beautifully elevate this. Just lie back and soak it all in.
