You And Your Crown
Matthew Mole
Just Music South Africa (Available for the world ex SA)
WE SAY
Matthew Mole's You And Your Crown displays an immediate and undeniable talent for songwriting and with inspiration coming from the likes of Jonsi, Mumford & Sons, Feist and Imogen Heap, makes for a superb listen. We could have picked any one of the tracks from his Same Parts, Same Heart EP for RotD, such is the consistency of his songsmanship, but You And Your Crown just pipped it. The Cape Town singer-songwriter recorded the EP as a series of demos in his bedroom studio at the end of 2012 which doesn't seem to do the recordings any harm. Matthew starts recording his debut album with producer Matthew Fink (Tailor/Shadowclub/Nakhane Toure) next month, with the album due for release in South Africa April 2013. The gifted artist recently won the Converse 'Get Out Of The Garage' competition which saw him fly to London and play at the 100 Club alongside the likes of Wild Belle and go to New York to record a track for their 'Rubber Tracks' campaign.
