We Can Do Better
Matt Simons
WE SAY
Back in 2015 it was quite impossible not to hear California-born and Brooklyn-based Matt Simons’ massive Catch and Release single and Deepend remix on the airwaves and in playlists across Europe. The single and title track to his second album went on to amass over 300 million streams and reach number 1 in Spain, Germany, Belgium and France, as well as hitting platinum and gold status across Europe, Brazil, South Africa and Canada. Today, the multi-instrumentalist is back with his contagious new single We Can Do Better as a forerunner to his new album out later this year and boy, it’s good. Co-written with Emily Warren (Dua Lipa / Chainsmokers) and Scott Harris (Shawn Mendes / Chainsmokers) after a discussion about relationships and marriage, the track is a delicious slice of upbeat and hopeful pop. Filled with hook-filled melodies and a seriously catchy trombone motif, We Can Do Better is destined for feel good contextual playlists and with the right support at daytime radio this could become an early pre-summer hit. Partnered with a simple and brilliant video featuring a group a children this is a bright, addictive and joyously positive tune.
