grateful
Martin Luke Brown
WE SAY
Drenched with a blissful, West Coast-inspired sound and an indie UK heart, grateful is the second single to be taken from Martin Luke Brown’s forthcoming debut album. It’s been a bit of a journey for the self-taught multi-instrumentalist who first appeared on the scene in Leicester in the early teens, befriending the likes of Mahalia, Easy Life and Saint Raymond, as well as the support of BBC Introducing. While studying at a university in London, he was signed to Parlophone after the release of his debut single, Nostalgia, in 2014. But by the end of 2017, and 20m streams, he decided to take a break after struggling with being an artist and concentrated on writing and producing songs for other artists, including BTS, Gavin James, Greta Isaac and Orla Gartland. Released today (12 October), grateful is a gorgeous window into his new era of music and marks an impressive return. Deserving of indie and alternative playlist support at DSPs and plays on BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music, grateful has all the ingredients to become a firm fave with indie fans and the general listener too. It’s good, very good indeed. Enjoy.
