Animals
Martin Garrix
WE SAY
There was a time when the pinnacle of achievement at the age of seventeen was passing your driving test first time. Now 17 year-old Dutch wunderkind Martin Garrix has ruined that for everyone forever, releasing what will very likely be this year's biggest dance record with barely a vocal, remix or a hint of facial hair in sight. That Garrix is the youngest person ever to go to number one on Beatport might just be the least impressive fact among the litany of chart-busting stats that Animals now boasts; top 10 in six countries, top 10 iTunes in a further nineteen, while the video has notched up an eye-watering 35m views. Little wonder a Radio 1 Track of the Day last week was soon followed by a playlist addition, with specialist and regional support more or less across the board. Accordingly the track is no. 4 on Shazam pre-release - no. 11 over all - with a full month still to go until impact date. Animals is a monster.
