If you are feeling a bit stressed before you start your working week off, don’t worry, we have the perfect remedy for you – Marconi Union’s new four-minute version of its soothing number Weightless. Proven in a scientific test to reduce anxiety by up to 65%, the original 8-minute version of Weightless was created when Marconi Union were asked to write a piece of relaxing music in consultation with a leading sound therapist. The outcome, a beautiful combination of arranged harmonies, rhythms and basslines featuring guitar, piano and electronic samples of natural soundscapes, has now been streamed over 150m times and was considered in the test to be the most relaxing track in the world. Following the public demand for the creation of a 30 minute and 10-hour version, this four-minute version was released last Friday (22 March). Later this year Marconi Union will release their tenth album, as well as play a small selection of shows, including Seven Arts (Leeds - 15 June), Yellow Arch Studios (Sheffield – 16 June) and St Pancras Old Church (London – date TBC). So in the meantime, just hit play and let your worries drift away.
