If you are attending Eurosonic over the next few days, Malihini are a noteworthy duo you should seek out. Formed in Rome in 2016, Giampaolo Speziale and Federica Caiozzo started to make music after being inspired by a road trip through Austria, Germany, and Poland. They then moved to London where they recorded their debut EP, Lose Everything, with producer Richard Formby (Wild Beasts, Darkstar, Ghostpoet) last year. Fuelled by a foreboding guitar riff, the titular lead track and forthcoming single (19 January) from the aforementioned EP is a dark and alluring indie-electronica ode about relationship woes. The duo have so far garnered tastemaker praise from the likes of Loud and Quiet, Wonderland, DIY, Clash Magazine, and The Line of Best Fit, plus radio support from BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music. They are currently recording their debut album with Formby and will be taking time out to perform two showcase gigs at Eurosonic on 18 and 19 January, at the Praedinius Gymnasium and Plato store respectively.
