Piers Baron and Tim Metcalfe are the Los Angeles-based duo MAIZE. Tim is an Aussie songwriter and Piers a British drum & bass DJ/producer, and together they’ve been responsible for a slew of official remixes over the past few years for acts including Gwen Stefani, Marina & The Diamonds, MS MR, Alex Newell and All Saints. Now though, they’re making music in their own right and their latest project sees them combine their joint love for great pop with electronic roots to create this, a retro-tinged dance banger that’s a proper ‘get your hands in the air and sing your head off’ euphoric anthem. You’ll hear '90s Italiano House piano motifs, big melodic synth lines, a simple verse and chorus that gets in your head almost immediately, and a pure uplifting vibe throughout. Expertly executed and lovingly crafted, we look forward to hearing more from the boys if this is the direction they take from now on. After the past few days post-Brexit referendum in the UK, the restorative message that this big dance tune can provide us with is very welcoming indeed.
