A breezy and bittersweet ode to simpler times, Can’t Wait For The Summer is the latest single from the former frontman of early ’00s alt-rock band The Departure, Maddox Jones. Back in September, we introduced you to his solo music with the heartfelt and haunting No More Ghosts from his debut EP, Headspace. He’s picked up tastemaker praise from Spin, American Songwriter and It’s All Indie, while radio support has come from the BBC and iHeart Radio. Now, back with this slice of optimistic guitar-driven pop, Maddox delivers a catchy and radio-friendly anthem that’s begging to be played out at festival speakers this summer. Written by Maddox and co-produced by Billy Lockett and David Crawford, the track brings together polished production, heartfelt songwriting and authentic emotion to produce an uplifting song with echoes of Frank Turner, Bruce Springsteen and The Killers.
