LYRA
WE SAY
We’ve been big fans of the sounds of Irish dark-pop dance sensation Lyra since we first heard ‘Falling’ back in 2019. Her powerful and distinct vocals have seen her build a loyal fanbase, two huge radio hits in Ireland and receive tastemaker support from Spotify, Apple Music, the Sunday Times, and a host of Irish and UK-based sites. Today (12 April), she released her self-titled debut album via Rubyworks. Consisting of 14 tracks, the album conveys the broad range of her musicality, journeying from the dark and sultry RotD-featured ‘Chess’, to the pulsating dance anthem ‘Lovers’ and the seriously infectious and upbeat anthem ‘You’. Produced and co-written by Phil Cook (Lewis Capaldi, Ellie Goulding, Calum Scott), who also produced her tracks ‘Falling’ and ‘Lovers’, ‘Queen’, is the latest single to be released and is, quite simply, a powerful dark pop anthem, exuding self-empowerment and independence. Having sold 17k tickets on her 22-date Irish tour, including two sold-out shows at 3Olympia Theatres shows in Dublin, Lyra is currently appearing at instore events across Ireland this week to support the album release. At the start of next month, she will head over to the UK for a mini UK tour, culminating in a show in London at Omeara on 8 May before a headline show at The Marquee in Cork the following month (16 June).
