He's My Man
Luvcat
WE SAY
Starting this week’s Ones To Watch 2025 is fast-rising newcomer Luvcat. Raised in Liverpool but made somewhere between the south London pub circuit and the underground clubs of Paris, Luvcat has made a name for herself this year with her gothic noir alternative sound and twisted romance songs. The project is a wonderfully rich and theatrical offering that conjures a blend of Nick Cave’s murder ballads, Kate Bush’s dramatic flair, and the gothic air of The Cure. Having built a live reputation in small venues at the start of the year, she teased clips of her live performances on TikTok and quickly gained an online cult following. At the end of May, she dropped her debut single ‘Matador’ followed by this gorgeous, cinematic murder ballad in September, and then last month, the decadent and confessional ‘Dinner @ Brasserie Zedel’. Not content with just wooing audiences, Luvcat has received praise from tastemakers like Rolling Stone, NME (Breakout) and Dork (Hype), support from BBC Introducing (Track of the Week), Radio 1 (Sian Eleri), 6 Music (Chris Hawkins), and Radio X, and amassed over 12m combined streams, including editorial support from Spotify and Amazon Music. Earlier this autumn, Luvcat supported The Last Dinner Party on their European tour, sold out a headline UK tour, and is currently supporting Paris Paloma on her UK tour. Next year, she will head out on a UK tour, followed by a European tour, and has been confirmed to play at the Great Escape, Eurosonic, and Live at Leeds festivals. We love her sound, theatrics, and dramatic storytelling and reckon she is on course to have a massive year in 2025, making her one to watch.
