Turn It Around
Lucius
WE SAY
That Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, the driving forces behind Brooklyn quintet Lucius, are both Berklee graduates will surprise no one who has heard their eclectic debut album Wildewoman, which came out in America last month on Mom + Pop. They are advanced students indeed: Wildewoman is a diverse record that plays out like a girl-rock greatest hits, from the Bangles-esque pop of Tempest to the Haim-ish AOR of Hey Doreen or the Friends-y Brooklyn indie of today's featured track Turn It Around (classy live version here). Feted by everyone from Rolling Stone to the New York Times to NPR, at whose prestigious but Tiny Desk they performed earlier this year, Lucius are selling out multiple nights at New York's Bowery Ballroom and similar-sized rooms across North America. The band is unsigned for the UK, arriving here for a sold-out show at the Shacklewell Arms on November 20.
