Strong
London Grammar
WE SAY
'One of this year's most highly anticipated debuts' is such an oft-encountered phrase here at RotD towers that we experience a tiny thrill on the rare occasions when it's actually true. The aptly entitled If You Wait, released on September 9, is the stunning debut album from RotD favourites London Grammar, whose crown as the most blogged-about artist on Hype Machine - with 2.5 million Soundcloud plays to date and a press pack that reads like a newsagent's order list - makes theirs about as anticipated as it's possible for a debut album to be. Exquisite lead-in single Strong received its broadcast premiere earlier this month from Zane Lowe, who invites the band to Maida Vale for a session next week, while the Sam Brown-directed video was premiered by The Guardian on Friday. London Grammar have played virtually every festival worth its salt this summer, with a headline tour of the UK to follow in the autumn. It's hard to see the anticipation not translating into sales.
London gig: Electric Brixton, October 18 (sold out), extra date added November 28
