Women's Studies
Lloyd Cole
WE SAY
Late last year, Lloyd Cole offered 600 special editions of his then yet-to-be-recorded album for a mere $100 through his own site. RotD's Paul Scaife snapped one up, and was impressed with the packaging and handwritten note, but most importantly, the music. By now you may have seen the 4* album reviews for Standards in the Independent on Sunday, ArtsDesk, Mojo, Uncut and elsewhere. Introduction track Period Piece (video) picked up some Radio 2 plays, but it's Women's Studies that the station ought to playlist and remind the public he still produces distinctive songs that deserve a mass audience.

Union Chapel, October 17 (sold out)
