Five years since Lisa Hannigan released her acclaimed Passenger album, she's re-emerged with At Swim to unanimous praise by critics. At a time when stripped-back, heartfelt acoustic songs offer a safe harbour from our stormy world, it explains why new music from a stand-out exponent like Lisa has been hugely anticipated. It's helped sell-out her upcoming UK and European tour this October, which takes in a London date at Islington Assembly Hall. Aaron Dessner from The National has produced the album, and it’s had glowing reviews from The Sunday Times, Independent and Telegraph (who all made it their Album Of The Week), Uncut, The Observer, Mail on Sunday and the Evening Standard, who said it could well be the most beautiful album of the year. We heard Lisa perform a fabulous live session for Dermot O’Leary on Radio 2 on Saturday, and can vouch for the fact that her latest songs sounded absolutely sublime in the late summer sunshine.
