Leon Of Athens is a wonderful London-based musician whose excellent song Global first brought him to our attention. Now things are gearing up for the release of his forthcoming as-yet-untitled album, produced by David Kosten who's noted for his Mercury-nominated work with Everything Everything and Bat For Lashes. The first fresh single from it certainly doesn't disappoint - it opens rather stylishly with moody guitars dripping in reverb, before then unfolding to reveal the sort of beautifully expansive cinematic soundscape you’d find on First Aid Kit’s Stay Gold album. Tonight (March 17) he begins a seven-date UK headline tour with a show in London at The Lexington. A big live attraction back in his native Greece, where he's played to audiences of thousands, and with UK praise from the likes of The Guardian, NME, Q and more, this record fully deserves to to be the one that'll deliver him widespread mainstream attention and send his reputation soaring further skywards to success.
